Pros and Cons of a 60 Mil Pool Liner

In the pool liner construction market, you can find liners from Chinese and European manufacturers. Chinese liners are cheaper than European liners. But European membranes are better in many characteristics. This is due to strict European norms to the quality of such products.
Cefil 60 mil liner is manufactured by a Spanish company. And their products can be called a benchmark of quality. What advantages does it possess?

• Increased resistance to punctures, cuts, stretching. The membrane consists of three layers. The middle layer is a reinforcing mesh made of polyester. Thanks to this, even in case of cracks in the concrete pool bowl, the liner remains airtight and there is no water leakage. In the case of pool liners with tiles, mosaics, plaster or water-repellent paint, if cracks appear in the concrete pool bowl, the lining will break down. This leads to water leakage and the need for costly repairs, including draining, repairing cracks and replacing damaged sections of the liner.
  

• Resistant to fading and formation of microorganisms. The front surface of the liner is covered with a layer of special acrylic lacquer, which protects against UV rays and prevents fading of the pattern. The inner layer of the liner undergoes antibacterial treatment, which prevents the possible development of bacteria. Cheap products from other manufacturers do not have this. As a result, the choice of a cheap liner leads to various problems in the future.
• Quick and inexpensive installation. Unlike tiling your pool bowl with ceramic tiles or mosaics, installing a liner takes much less time. This means you can use your pool for its intended purpose faster.
• Resistance to temperature fluctuations. If ceramic tiles, mosaics, water-repellent paint or plaster can crack, peel or flake in case of sudden temperature changes, the liner is not threatened by this. PVC membrane well tolerates both heat and cold. Therefore, the pool water is not drained in the winter. This has a positive impact on operating costs.

• Low weight. Compared to tiles or mosaics, which can weigh tons, the weight of the liner is negligible. Therefore, it has virtually no effect on the settlement of the ground under the concrete pool deck. This reduces the risk of cracks and deformation of the concrete base.
• Wide range of colors. Our pool liner can be monochrome, with colored patterns, textured. The monochrome membrane is the most affordable. Liners with a pattern are more expensive. But it is worth it. The drawing very plausible imitates tiles, mosaics, marble of different shades and the like. Textured liner is a premium option. It looks like a natural stone of different origin: sandstone, basalt and so on. It has a rough surface, which has anti-slip properties. This is very important for preventing injuries, especially on pool steps.

• Long service life. With proper care, 60 mil pool membrane will last at least 20+ years. It’s all up to you. At the end of its service life, it can be quickly, simply and easily removed and replaced with a new liner. The concrete pool bowl is not affected in any way. You can choose a new liner color (shade) and texture. And it does not depend on the previous liner in any way. In the case of tile or mosaic tiling, you will have to beat off (remove) the entire tile along with the adhesive mortar on which it is held. And then tidy up (repair) concrete bowls, which can be damaged during the dismantling of tiles. And all these operations are expensive and time-consuming.

As you can see, the advantages of 60 mil membrane are enough to choose it as a liner for your pool. Now let’s consider the disadvantages of the liner.
